Decode GMDSS-DSC Transmissions With Your iPhone and iPad

GMDSS lets you view GMDSS-DSC marine weather transmissions on your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. Just set it near a radio (or for better quality decoding, connect a cable from the radio's audio output jack to the microphone jack), tune in a GMDSS-DSC frequency, and watch the transmissions.

Now you can display these messages without buying a dedicated GMDSS-DSC receiver.

Most GMDSS-DSC transmissions are on 2187.5, 4207.5, 6312, 8414.5, 12577 and 16804.5 kHz.

You can listen to and decode this GMDSS-DSC recording as a test. Set your app to a frequency of 2220 Hz with Invert OFF.

Note that GMDSS-DSC transmissions are not continuous, so you need to wait for the station closest to you to start transmitting.
