Black Cat ALE Vacuum Cleaner

Black Cat ALE Vacuum Cleaner processes SDR I/Q recording files, looking for and decoding ALE signals found in the passband. (It only works with recording files, not with "live" signals.)

This makes it possible to quickly and easily find many of the ALE transmissions in your SDR recordings, without having to manually find and decode them one by one. You don't have to monitor just one ALE frequency, or a few. Or even specify which frequencies to monitor! Black Cat ALE Vacuum Cleaner will look for ALE transmissions on any channel (in 1.0 and 0.5 kHz steps) that fall within the bandwidth of your SDR I/Q recording files.

It can even run in an "unattended" mode, monitoring the directory your SDR program writes recording files to. As each I/Q file is finished, Black Cat ALE Vacuum Cleaner will process the file, logging ALE transmissions to a text file, and then delete the I/Q recording file, so your hard drive doesn't fill up.

Please remember that the program is searching through the entire I/Q recording file looking for ALE transmissions. It may not find all of them. It may also "find" transmissions that don't really exist, either due to noise or other signals being mis-identified. The emphasis of the program is weak signal detection, over rejecting any and all false signals. It's up to you, the user, to weed out the bad from the good.

Also note that the 0.6 kHz channels used by the US State Department are not officially decoded, although you may occasionally get some decodes from them as a 0.5 kHz channel.
